PCB Repair and Solder Specialist

Reports to Production Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Summary/objective
Responsible for repairing and/or reworking Printed Circuit Boards. Must have experience in electronics manufacturing, and working in an ESD controlled environment. Advanced surface mount repair experience using a PCB rework station to replace BGAs, QFNs, LGAs, QFPs, etc. Some light assembly work may be required.

Essential functions:
• Follow all safety protocols, and maintain a safe working environment.
• Repair / Rework Printed Circuit Boards to IPC Level 2 or higher standards.
• Follow ESD Quality standards to support the ESD safe zone.
• High attention to quality and detail.
• Solder shields onto PCB.
• Support inventory control and accurate inventory transactions entries.
• Light assembly work as needed.

Competencies:
• Ability to comprehend and follow Standard Operational Processes and instructions.
• Understand electronic component packaging to determine proper placement and standard rework practices.
• Strong advanced rework/repair SMT abilities to rework BGAs, QFNs, LGAs, etc. to IPC Level 2 or higher standards.
• High level of competence using a reflow station and soldering iron.
• Experience with Altium PCB Viewer software a plus.
• Experience using a microscope and X-ray equipment to inspect PCB a plus.
• Basic use of a computer for inventory transactions and other work-related functions.

Work environment: Production Floor

Physical demands:  Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

Embedded Firmware Engineer

Responsibilities:

Seeking a well-rounded, experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and documenting code for our embedded software products. Responsibilities will include:
• Design microcontroller firmware for new products
• Work with the electrical and mechanical teams to produce highly integrated designs
• Ensure that new product design meets the requirements set forth in Product Requirement Documents
• Coordinate with the hardware design team to ensure that current software fully implements hardware functionality
• Troubleshoot firmware problems to find root-cause and propose improvements for existing applications
• Work with electrical engineering team to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues discovered in new and existing products
• Support production teams of bench technicians, assemblers, and quality control personnel with test routines and troubleshooting tools
• Provide maintenance for existing software and legacy products

Requirements:
• Experience writing firmware for embedded devices including interrupt handling and strict timing requirements. Experience with MSP430 microcontrollers preferred.
• Proficient with C programming language and at least one assembly language
• Ability to adapt to new programming languages and tools as needed
• Comfortable working in a Windows-based development environment
• Experience reading circuit design schematics, proficient with use of lab equipment
• Experience in any of the following areas would be a plus: C++ development, GUI design and development, device driver development, C#/.NET development, Linux-based development environments
• Must possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
• BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

Embedded Systems Test Engineer
Seeking an experienced Embedded Systems Test Engineer to plan and coordinate product testing, especially software testing.
Responsibilities will include:
Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents
• Monitor every phase of the development process in order to understand product use cases and desired system functionality
• Develop comprehensive and well-structured test processes for embedded devices based on product requirements & specifications
• Create automated, repeatable black box tests
• Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs
• Analyze bugs and errors found during tests
• Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
• Document results of tests for the software development team
• Recommend improvements in software to enhance user experience
• Work together with the software developers to enhance and improve programs
• Coordinate work of software testers
• Coordinate and track internal software/product review meetings
• Help ensure total product quality before release to manufacturing
• Coordinate approval and distribution of product software releases

Requirements:
• Extensive experience with software testing, ideally in embedded systems.
• High proficiency in computer technology
• Experience with scripting and programming test applications in Linux and Windows
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
• BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject preferred

Other qualities or requirements: Experience with GPIB or SCPI preferred. Experience with the use of electronic test equipment such as a Spectrum Analyzer, RF Generator, and Oscilloscope strongly preferred. Exceptional attention to detail.
