DESCRIPTION

This seminar will focus on the basic concepts of computer networking and how Voice Over IP is used for modern telephony. Examples will be shown using Wireshark and the REI Telephone and Line Analyzer (TALAN). The seminar will last approximately 1-2 hours and cover the following topics:

  • Layers of the OSI Model
  • Port Mirroring and Packet Capture
  • TCP/IP
  • Packet Encapsulation
  • Typical VoIP Protocols
  • Voice Codecs
  • Encryption
  • Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
